“This is 2 months postpartum for me. I'm so incredibly grateful to have a husband that will watch our son for 13 hours so I can take a day trip to Seneca. I feel so lucky that I'm healing well enough to spend a day climbing with @co.ll.ee.n, one of the most badass women I know. Were there some new logistics to consider as a breastfeeding mom? You know it! But we figured it out and made it happen. I built up a small stash for Eli in the days leading up to our trip. I pumped while belaying Colleen on the easier pitches so that I could focus when she worked her onsight attempt of Bee Sting Corner. I managed to get 8 ounces while we climbed and stored it safely in a precooled thermos so it was ready to freeze when we got home. All in all, I'd say the day was a success! I struggle with my new body. I am constantly telling myself to be patient, that I made a whole human, that my body has been through a lot. Every day I'm getting just a little bit of my strength back. I don't know if I would have been confident enough to take on a day like this if it hadn't been for @chris9596 support. I'm so glad I did. I love that we live in a time where women like @bethrodden are honest about their postpartum journeys, and that there are companies making products to support active moms like @haakaausa and @kindredbravely. I'm grateful to have been able to workout my entire pregnancy @sportrock and to rehab there now. I know how lucky I am to be able to take this time off of work to be with Eli and to heal. So yeah, 2 months into this whole new mom life and I'm just feeling grateful that I get to do it this way.” Thanks @beyondawn for sharing this beautiful story!
