My last podcast guest, as she puts it, “did a sista a favor.” Journalist Jessica Yellin of News Not Noise shared about being a guest on SheSez and I got quite a few new followers. So I thought I’d share this little video we did back in 2019. Beyond this, I’m a veteran journalist who has worked in every medium- from TV news reporting to being an entertainment correspondent in LA to my current gig-editor in chief of the magazine (print & online) Ventura Blvd which covers lifestyle in LA’s San Fernando Valley. The inspiration behind SheSez: to inspire and to share other womens’ stories we can learn from. There was a time in my life- after I’d quit my job to be stay home mom for a few years and then tried unsuccessfully to re- enter the job force- when I felt a serious lack of possibilities, opportunities- some of which had to do with ageism (hard to be on air in your 40s- sad but true) and my self esteem plummeted. I hope to share light, insight and hope to other women who might be experiencing those kind of challenges. But the show - by no means - is just about getting a job. I try to focus on areas that matter and the things we evolved women truly care about; I do a lot of health and wellness episodes. A recent one was with NIH researchers exploring the link between depression in women and low estrogen, for example. If a woman doesn’t walk away with at least one solid takeaway from a show, I’ve missed my mark. Other tidbits: I’m married to my 8th grade crush in Maryland (going on 30 years!!!) and we have two adult sons, who - and I know this isn’t cool- I wish were still both living with us. When I’m not working on VB or SHESEZ, I’m typically toiling away in my garden: Veggies, citrus and exotic dahlias- among other things. If you know someone who would be a great SheSez guest, DM me!
