Need a moment to reset your mind and body? Find a blank wall and put your legs up to ease tension and slow your breathing. Viparita Karani (commonly known as legs-up-the-wall pose) engages the parasympathetic nervous system, which lowers stress response in the body. Want to give it a try? Follow these steps from Neeti Narula, THE WELL New York Director of Mindful Movement. + Place a folded blanket or shallow bolster about 4 inches away from a wall. + Sit on top with one side of your hips against the wall. + Swing your legs onto the wall and lie down with your shoulders on the ground. + Slide as close to the wall as possible so that your sit bones are off the blanket. (The bolster or blanket should now be between the bottom tip of your shoulder blades and your sacrum.) + With your legs up the wall (feel free to bend slightly if more comfortable) and arms out to the side or overhead, the chest should feel broad and expansive and give way to easy breathing. + Rest here for at least 3-5 minutes. @neeti.narula . . . #thewell #wellness #health #healthy #lifestyle #selfcare #selflove #fitness #supportlocal #skincare #business #explore #yoga #stretch
