Hyperion, our 3rd LP, turns 4 today! What are your favourite tracks? For me it’s probably Bigger, China Shop, Next To You and You Should Know Better. This was the first time we really tried to capture the feel of our band playing in a room together and I think it really shows on many of the tracks, even though that can be a tough and unruly thing to bottle. The record started in our apartment in Prospect Heights, migrated to the studio we had in the Brooklyn Navy Yard for a while and then we re-recorded some parts at @missionsoundnyc . In-between we took a little break and had Indy and then finished it up in LA. I really wanted to show our diversity on this record and so it truly runs the gamut, from the gospel-ish vibe of Paradise is Waiting, to the borderline bubblegum pop of China Shop through to the 70’-singer-songwriter-bossa of Next to You and everything in-between. Big shoutout to @andybaldwin77 for recording our initial Navy Yard live band sessions, Rob Kirwan for helping us finish it off, @dsardy for killing the mix, and @shervinfoto @erinlarkgray @brrch_floral and @laurenzettler for helping us realize our vision for the cover art. So many other people were involved in this record, way too many to list here, but we’re truly so thankful to everyone who was there for us. Our 4th LP Utopia is out on October 7th we can’t wait for you to hear it! Also our Utopia tour starts on October 6th.
