Grieving is not simple. Sadness comes in waves like the ocean but it can also come in like a tsunami and drown me. This will be a long journey and one I wish I wasn’t on, but I am still thankful for many things. I’m thankful for the time I had with her, for the smiles, the tears, the road trips, the life lessons, the successes and the failures. But mostly I’m thankful that she is no longer suffering. She is up in heaven as a beautiful angel watching over us. When my Mom was sick, she would lay there in her hospital bed, unable to eat, drink or walk, and raise her arms high in the air, “Today is another great day!” She had every reason to be down, and she has had many reasons to be down before in her life, but she was always positive and always optimistic. I will try to be like her. I will try to enjoy life, to be thankful for every day and to see life through Lindy’s lens. I will try not to let the tsunami of her loss overwhelm me, but instead, to go out into the world with her spirit and her light. She will never be gone because she is always with me. 🙏🏻❤️
