Deception Island. Sitting just north of the Antarctic peninsula, this island is an active volcano in disguise. Sailing into the caldera, you’re greeted by steam rising off the shoreline and the remnants of an old whaling station. I’ve never experienced a landscape so similar to being home in Iceland, this is the Askja of the south. #antarctica #deceptionisland
