Being mentally strong means developing daily habits that help build mental muscle. It also means giving up habits that hold you back. The keys to developing a strong mindset: 1. Be in control of your life: have a good sense of your life’s purpose (live very intentionally) and control your emotions. This might take some real introspection, journalling, and even therapy, but this part is key to mental strength. Don’t let anyone or anything steal your peace of mind, keep your inner circle tight, and learn to speak less, and observe more 😘 2. Be committed and be focused! This means you can effectively set goals and achieve them, without getting too distracted. If you need to work on this, set smaller goals with shorter achievement windows, so you have a better chance of success. Learn from your success and your set backs and do what needs to be done to build good habits and set effective routines. Don’t let setbacks derail you. Remember, YOU are in control of your life when you live intentionally. Never give that power away. 3. Face your challenges and aim high in life! Learn to embrace challenges, and view adversity, change and challenge as opportunities rather than as threats. Don’t avoid novel situations out of “fear of failure”. 4. Develop a great sense of self-belief: believe in yourself and your ability to positively influence others. When you have a lot of self confidence you will be able to stay on task, take setbacks in stride, and maintain routine, even strengthening your resolve when challenges arise. Being confident means you can see the opportunities in challenges, and find ways to influence a situation through your efforts. You don’t easily fall sway to a “victim” mindset or feel that “life is happening to you out of your control”. No matter what happens you can find a way to turn events to your advantage. This is another way of saying “thoughts create reality”. A similar event can befall two people, for example. One personal might fall down mid-race, only to scramble back to her feet and win the race.
