I wake up every year on this day of 9.11 with that pit in my stomach and an ache in my heart. I chose these images to share because they are the ones I remember so vividly as I watched it all happen live from the terrace of my west village apartment the morning after one of those magical #NYFW week late nights. Watching the fearless firemen and women who ran to the unfathomable horror and the frontline workers who risked their lives immediately to save others is so much of what I remember. I, like so many others went into a dark place of mourning for the countless innocent lives lost and for the city that felt forever damaged. I recall feeling my young,naive, invincible self shattered and for the first time realizing the fragility of life. Witnessing September 11th without question changed me forever. The last slide is one that shows the New York City that was rebuilt and came back to life. It highlights the beautiful unbreakable strength and power of New Yorkers who show the love for their home and for their people. I will #neverforget and I could not ever forget this day so deeply embedded in my soul. I send my love, prayers and condolences to all those who lost a loved one.
