The fashion world is in mourning today, Dame Vivienne Westwood, the design powerhouse and one of fashion's greatest storytellers has passed away. I broke out in tears as I read the news today because I was immediately transported to November 12, 2012 when I was inducted into "the Westwood way". I had no idea how my life was about to change. You see, for the next six years I would live, breathe, and eat the culture of punks, misfits, and couture that Westwood had cultivated. I made it my mission to embody "Pirates", because I could and because it was encouraged. I wore diamanté horn tiaras with tiny orbs, paired with "Drunken" trousers and mile high platforms because my boss, Vivienne Westwood, said it was OK. And for once in my life I felt accepted. I was home. And this is the effect that Westwood had. You weren't just wearing clothes. You were wearing impressive clothes for life. And when passerbys would mock me, I'd stare back at them and feel sorry. "The sexiest people are thinkers", Westwood once said. In 2018 when I went out on my own and started this business I brought that part of Westwood with me. There was an innate urgency to share her legacy through her creations and what an honor that has been. Vivienne, we love you. Long live the Queen. 🪐🤍
