Earlier this year, we asked what product you wanted to see next from the #cocokindlab and you voted for retinol. Since then, our team has been hard at work starting to develop the first-ever cocokind retinol. So much goes into making a product like this and we wanted to keep you updated on our progress, so here’s the latest (bear with us, there's a lot to share!!): 1) INSIGHTS Earlier this year, we ran an extensive consumer survey where we asked what you do and don’t like about your current retinol options. Overwhelmingly, so many of you said that you're hesitant to use retinol due to the potential irritation. 2) FORMULA We created our product brief and reviewed samples with this feedback in mind. Retinol requires extensive research and there are a range of ingredients that fall under the retinoid umbrella including prescription strength tretinoin and adapalene, newer ingredients like retinal and granactive retinoid, and retinol esters. All have varying levels of potency, efficacy and gentleness. 3) APPLYING OUR PHILOSOPHY Because we always formulate with sensitive skin in mind, we want our retinol to be one that you can actually use without fear of reaction or sensitivity. We’ve done extensive research on what complementary ingredients will help balance potential irritation and redness. 4) PACKAGING: Of course, alongside formula research, we have to do packaging research and see what will be the most user-friendly and keep our formula stable. So far, we're leaning towards using a PCR tube with needle point tip.
