“The Princess” 2022 QUEERA (Mackage jacket, silk organza, rhinestones, safety-pins) Seeing the presence of a dress form, in film, always excited me. The dress form represented design and fashion, which was to me, “gay” and off limits. Even queer designers, such as Dior, Balmain, Mugler, Halston & McQueen created their masterpieces all while remaining in different levels of the closet. The seemingly half made garment draped on the dress form is a tribute to queer fashion designers, the queer fashion moments in film and costume design.
