2022 has been a year of growth for the Fort Greene Park Conservancy. This year, we've: - Continued our Lawn Pilot to rehabilitate the main lawn, completing the southern portion of the lawn! - Supported the beautification and environmental health of the park's landscape by 1. Grant-funding three NYC Parks positions (1 Gardener and 2 City Park Workers) 2. Purchasing plants and trees Running our volunteer programs, including our longstanding Volunteer Gardeners program. 3. Together, with Parks staff, we planted 35 trees, 152 shrubs, 1,389 perennials, and 800 bulbs in 2022! - Launched our Green Team, a program that is providing 11 teens, the majority of whom live at Ingersoll and Whitman Houses, a paid learning opportunity in the park that offers them career pathways and the tools and resources to care for their community’s environmental resources. - Evolved our new Black History & Culture of Fort Greene tour and program series in partnership with BlackSpace, the Future Historical Society at BRIC, MoCADA, the Myrtle Avenue BID, and the Weeksville Heritage Center. - Returned to our full summer lineup of engaging movies, concerts, and dance workshops! - Increased our program staff capacity by adding a new Public Programs & Engagement Manager position.
