When I get a mosquito or other bite from an insect I’ve always said “Somebody bit me!” Because it is another body, a tiny piece of consciousness who has done it. When I harvest I thank the plants. I thank my food. I thank my water. I thank the trees for our constant exchange of carbon and oxygen. When we refer to life that surrounds us as “things” rather than beings, we disconnect ourselves from the wholeness of life. It makes it seem “okay” to cut down a 200 year old tree for a momentary desire. When we receive, we must also honor those who are giving. The disconnect only prepares us to be thieves of our mother 🌿 Love y’all 🤎
