Marilyn Ness Producer: Beth Levison Synopsis: Postmortem is at once a personal memoir, true crime, and cultural interrogation. Filming the behind-the-scenes experience of staging the Postmortem stage play, we expose another layer: the true story beneath the art, and the ways rigorous artistic creation can reveal deeper, collective truths. The Sundance Institute Sandbox Fund is an open-call grant program with support given directly to independent filmmakers to cover development, production or finishing costs, with no strings attached, and is separate from our main productions at Sandbox Films. Experimental by design, the program allows us to take risks, to nurture bold ideas, to uncover new voices, and together with artists, to re-imagine science documentary.
