photo by @daisygilardini/ Meerkats are extremely interesting creatures. They lead complex social lives and live in large communities, comprised of several families. They live in arid areas of southern Africa, such as the Kalahari region of Namibia, South Africa, and southwestern Botswana. They sleep in burrows at night and leave at the first rays of sun in the morning. After warming up in the sun for a few minutes, they take off on their daily hunt. A handful of colony members serve as lookouts, watching out for predators — eagles, hawks and jackals — while the others forage for food: birds, lizards, insects, and fruit. #meerkat #Botswana #Africa #conservation #fineartprint #promotion #blackfriday
