Competed in the @flordakayakbasstrail tournament on Orange Lake yesterday and that lake put me to WORK. Ended up catching a limit in the end and finished in 15th place! I’m not familiar with the lake and didn’t get a chance to prefish so I didn’t have a set spot to head to. The hydrilla was topped out and lake was SUPER shallow so I paddled around most of the time after making it to the first spot. First 4 hours of the tournament I didn’t get a SINGle bite 😅 so I was kicking myself at this point because nothing was working. I ended up fishing some super dense mats and finally got 2 fish back to back on a frog. Kept fishing around that area and was able to find a few more and finally caught my 5th fish in the last hour. Had to hustle hard for those 5 fish and the last 2 were JUST long enough to make it on the board but we got it done. Caught everything on the @tactical_fishing_company pad slasher and a fluke with a weighted ZWG hook from @zmanfishingproducts 🤞🏽 Long day of fishing but the views on this lake were INCREDIBLE !! Tough bite aside, I’m grateful for the experience and such a beautiful day on the water 🌅❤️ Still early in the season but currently sitting in 8th for AOY. I’ll be back on Orange for the next @floridabnks in a couple weeks so we’ll get another chance to find some of those Orange Lake giants I know are in there 💪 Thanks for all the support as always!!
