The wall label recounts this "Portrait of a Youg Lady" c 1553-55 by Tintoretto is most probably depicting his beloved daughter Marietta Robusti.
It fails to explain that Robusti - aka Tintoretta - was herself an artist, inseparable from her father and who often cross dressed to participate in the public life of her father. Very few works are attributed to her hand (what is considered Tintoretta's self portrait is at the @uffizigalleries - image 3) having labored in her father's bottega for at least 15 years, it is conceivable that her hand was at work in many of her dad's works. I came to Vienna to speak about the Sisterhood of Tintoretta this week - so happy to see this painting afterwards @kunsthistorischesmuseumvienna ... a sign from Tintoretta herself!?! 👻
