When Thomas Verstraeten told me last year that he was going to recreate his street in cardboard and that he wanted to involve his entire neighborhood in a big theater piece that would take place in it, I was hugely fascinated. So I was very flattered when he asked me to make a film of this together. Everyday events, which we see every day and which we walk past, suddenly became more meaningful and it made us all stop and think about the little things, but also the bigger picture. The people who were present in large numbers and all put a piece of themselves into this, but also Thomas' drive, our crew and the whole team behind the idea make me very warm inside. In the future, I hope to focus more on projects that carry such a beautiful and social message, where it's not just the end product that matters, but more importantly the journey towards it and the people involved. Thank you to Thomas and thank you to my wonderful compact crew.
