i'm going back home to the cornfields of nebraska and TBH i'm like "well here goes nothing.” could be amazing, could be absolutely terrible, likely will be both. by now I've developed enough strategies to deal with everything that will likely happen over the next week. i’ll definitely be pulling the "i'm going to go on a hike/run/going outside" card to avoid people, will be dodging my high school bullies at the grocery store and will definitely be replying to a lot of conversations with "that's so interesting!" all that to say, i know i'll go back and realize i miss the midwest. but now going home is a reminder of just how far i've come. p.s. please remember... 1. often times the healthiest family member causes the most "conflict" because they can communicate have learned to regulate their emotions, can be happy without being dependant on others and all those things are threatening to emotionally immature parents, siblings, relatives etc. 2. if vou're not going home and instead spending time with friends/chosen family/yourself i am so damn proud of you, too. knowing your boundaries is so powerful. no matter what you’re doing for the holidays, remember that home is not where your family is, home is where you feel safe and loved. always. rooting u on from my cornfield to yours, wyn memes by the one and only @abnormalize.being
