When we first signed up for @transalpine_run, we actively discouraged friends/family from taking time out of their schedules to come watch the race. We didn’t want them to waste their vacation following around some silly race in the mountains, knowing our days would either be spent running or resting, and we figured their presence would be redundant to the organization support. We were completely wrong. We may have still survived the last eight days without them, but having this group of people alongside us each and every day was invaluable and meant we not only survived but thrived! @vonjonesy was with us from day one, offering endless smiles and encouragement, runs to the store for pickles and salty chips, got us to the start line on time with her VIP shuttle service and grabbed our jackets at the last minute so we wouldn’t freeze in the brisk morning air. @cavis212 scouted routes and gave us course beta in addition to running to various aid stations to refill our Gu stash and holler from the woods. When we saw Charlie and Jenny at 45km of the 54km Queen Stage I almost started crying with joy - their support meant more than I could have ever imagined! To have @arnoldvonclemm @scottgreacen and @pvclemm show up during the final few stages gave us something to look forward to all week! They fed us, danced for us, cheered for us, carried our bags, and made me feel like I was a part of the family.
