REGULARNORMAL and I are super elated to be announcing our second exhibition at @dinner_gallery “This is Not Surrealism”, a delicately curated group show which decodes Neo-surrealism in current times. ⁣ ⁣ This is not Surrealism takes its name from René Magrite’s 1929’s painting, “The Treachery of Images' where he paints an image of a pipe and states that it’s not a pipe, challenging the viewer to find meaning in a contradictory yet profoundly literal statement.⁣ ⁣ We encouraged 30 artists to create new work to help further our understanding of this ongoing movement. Existential themes such as consumerism, the damage done to nature, using humor as a coping mechanism and the power of storytelling as a tool for healing are all present in this exhibition. ⁣ ⁣ This Is not Surrealism will open on Thursday August 4th from 6-8pm at Dinner Gallery 242 West 22nd Street
