Nitro Snowboards are 100% Climate Neutral, but snowboarding is still not a 100% sustainable activity there is still a long way to go... Sustainability is a hot topic these days and for good reason, but the use of the term gets tossed around very freely and it is important to be aware of this. What does sustainability mean for us at Nitro? Sustainability is defined as the quality of not being harmful to the environment or depleting natural resources, thereby supporting long-term ecological balance. We at Nitro care about our business's environmental impact, social responsibility, and the global snowboarding community. We focus on quality to extend a product's lifespan. We do not excessively overproduce products, only what is on demand. We consider and choose the most sustainable strategy for lower energy and carbon emissions when shipping product around the globe. We source alternative and sustainable materials to substitute those based on fossil fuels and higher carbon emissions. But talking about it is not enough we all need to start taking action and to be able to do better we need to know better. So together with @climatepartner the last two seasons we have found ways to improve and reduce the climate emissions created by our entire snowboard collections product Life Cycle. The next logical step was to take action and to compensate the remaining climate emissions (CO2 + other gas emissions) of each Nitro board from cradle to cradle: from the day it is built to the day it ultimately get thrown away (hopefully after a long long life), and investing into carbon offset projects shown on the slides above. Boards were obviously our first category we wanted to address and now we are currently analyzing our entire binding collection together with ClimatePartner. So, expect great things from us with an even greater focus on keeping the community alive.
