REWIRED • I was programmed to believe “brains over beauty.” I was taught that as a smart girl, my priorities should never be my looks, because “you can’t make a life out of pretty.” Chile! Our grandmothers and mothers, could not have foreseen the Age of the Influencer. They was all the way wrong. Lol. But more importantly, sadly, I was conditioned to deny myself the joy that comes with honoring the physical beauty God gave me, shaped through the connections of my ancestors and to see any time, energy or resources dedicated to it as a waste of time or guilty pleasure. When someone is struggling with an action that seems so simple... like posting a pretty picture on IG... understand that it’s sometimes more than stubbornness or just being lazy — it’s an internal struggle to rewire the thoughts and beliefs that have held them hostage in their comfort zone.
