I blinked and you are 10. Happy birthday to the boy who makes my world go round. The kid who is always up for an adventure, loves the outdoors, loves creatures big and small. I love experiencing the world alongside you. Parenting isn’t easy, but you give life meaning, perspective and joy. You wanted your last trip of 9 to be to our favorite place and I still can’t believe the stars aligned and we were able to get a last minute campground in Yosemite Valley. A gift from the universe to the person who would appreciate it the most. The only birthday present you wanted was to adopt two Guinea pigs and you worked for a solid 11 months feeding Scout, taking her on walks and picking up poop to prove you were responsible enough. World... meet Daffodil and the runt of her litter Daisy, the sweetest duo who love to be cuddled just like their new owner. I know I’m on borrowed time but you still reach for my hand when we’re walking down the street, you still want cuddles and you aren’t embarrassed to yell “love you mom” when I drop you off at school. Before bed, your favorite is when we read our own books laying side by side. You don’t know what you want to be when you grow up, but can list the things that bring you joy and would like to incorporate into your life when you’re adult. You still hate ball sports, but love riding your mountain bike, rock climbing and hiking which works perfectly for me because I love doing these things with you. I asked you what your goals for your 10th year was and without a beat you said “visit 5 new national parks I’ve never been to”. Challenge accepted! Where to first?!?
