Tomorrow (Saturday Nov 12) Seven One Two Seven will be open for viewing at The Sagrado from 10A-3P. Artist Statement Excerpt: “The exhibition's title, Seven One Two Seven, is a direct reference to the South Phoenix home where Brown resided and where Glover spent many of her formative years. As a kid, there were few loves for Glover outside of family: sneakers, rain, basketball, and taking pictures. The artist fondly recalls pickup basketball in 8th Place's cul-de-sac with the other neighborhood kids. It was around this time Glover felt the pain of incarceration that hit her family. These works reference Glover's personal history, one of a Black girl, a tomboy, an honor roll student, and an oldest child in the house]. This body of work explores Glover's impressionable years, which were defined by drastic change. She was treated more like an adult and less like a child, taking on increased responsibilities at home, visiting incarcerated family, and spending extended periods of time with her grandmother. At the same time, she also fell in love with a sport. Lowkey, this is a love letter to her grandma.”
