Marriage- a fashion metaphor 👠 Ever worn a pair of shoes that didn’t fit for so long you eventually became numb to the pain? Then when you finally took them off, you realized it feels so much better barefoot. Because you were slowly destroying your feet and causing all sorts of issues that could affect you long term. But you LOVED the shoes so much that you didn’t want to take them off. They were your favorites and went with damn near everything you owned. And even though they caused you pain, they were also comfortable because they were so worn in. But our feet grow and change... literally after giving birth and having kids they get bigger, as mothers we change and evolve. Things don’t fit like they once did and eventually you can’t do other things you love dearly because you are limping around with a bad foot. Can’t play with your kids the way you want, cooking becomes a burden, can’t focus at work, etc. Also it’s kinda scary to think you may never find another pair of shoes that you love this much. But maybe you don’t need a new pair of shoes, maybe you just need to be barefoot for a while. 🦶🏼 And even though at first it feels scary to walk around without shoes because you might step on something sharp, you know for a fact that your only pair of shoes hurt. For years you may take them on and off unsure of what to do because you are afraid of the unknown. So you just take them off quietly at home and walk around getting your feet under you, then you become braver and walk around outside... then that walk slowly turns into a jog and next thing you know you’re running... wind in your hair. Like when you were a kid skipping barefoot in the grass on a sunny day... no shoes needed ☀️ Moral of the story... if the shoe no longer fits. Take it off. The longer you walk in it... the worse it feels. I don’t care what society or friends/family think... they aren’t walking around in your shoes, so they have no clue how it feels. 🖤
