This photo brings back such vivid memories, and is one of my favourite images I’ve ever taken. I took this in 2017 from a hillside in Yarchen Gar, a huge Tibetan Buddhist monastic centre in the Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. The journey here was a long one, taking a full day of driving (and countless police checkpoints) from the nearest city. It was fascinating to visit and learn more about the people that inhabited this isolated and once thriving community, which has since been largely destroyed, its many members having also been displaced 🙏🏼♥️
