Chicken creek trail head in Mancos, CO has miles and miles of equestrian trails in the ponderosa pines with running water and reservoirs. It was very quiet on a Monday. If you arrive early there is parking for an LQ, otherwise bring your small trailer. I walked the Blue Jay trail as a reconnaissance for bringing my horses this summer. The trails are open for hikers, mtn bikers and equestrians.
