a busy season for us all, it seems. kids going back to school, holidays will be here soon too. I didn’t think I’d be growing our fourth baby as we go after our homeschooling year (kindergarten feels like “a fun first”) and I’ve realized how quickly I can get intimidated by a bigger load.
we weren’t made for constant ease. rest? absolutely. ease? a threat to our purpose.
The beauty of a bed is the worn out body from a day of labor that enjoys its sudden peace. The beauty of a home cooked meal is the nourishment and refreshment your body feels afterwards. The beauty of an “I love you mommy” is the many moments you thought, “I don’t have the strength”, but chose to grow your capacity anyhow so that they might know they’re treasured.
the beauty of life is in the hard work & motherhood is the hardest work I’ve ever known. it’s why you can be altogether exhausted & think “this is the greatest joy” in the same mind. (I wrote more about this in my latest substack, but had to share here too. sending love to all my other mamas thinking there’s a big demand for hard work right now + tackling it, love first.)
