I knew we were doomed when NOTHING changed after Sandy Hook. And here we are again. @governorabbott just signed a bill that allows Texans to carry a handgun without a permit. Think about that. Why on EARTH?! So you're telling me, you need a permit AND a license to drive a car but NEITHER to FIRE A GUN?! MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. My heart can't take it anymore. This is the moment where US citizens decide what we value. This is about our kids and THEIR RIGHT TO FEEL SAFE AT SCHOOL. The fact that kids as young as preschool have to do school drills where they hide in bathroom stalls, sit on the toilet and tuck their legs up so that a shooter wouldn't be able to see their feet?! Are you KIDDING ME?! The psychological damage that that alone will do is immeasurable. @zararahim said it perfectly: "Insane how the only notable change since Sandy Hook is that kids are now formally trained to hide, barricade doors, fight or run for their lives. That was the solution. To literally put the responsibility on them to figure it out and wish them luck." We ALL need to come together, gun owners and not, and demand reasonable gun law reform at the VERY LEAST. If we can't come together and agree on this, well then I'm afraid our country has lost its soul.
