@vogueplus fashion story “城市巡游指南” with @sherryramsayshi & @mathieu.simoneau a visual story about escaping reality and living life through your imagination. In 2015, while I was living in BJ China working for a stock photographer, my growing curiosity for the fashion industry led me to try and finesse my way into Vogue China’s office and speak with EIC during that time, @angelica_cheung . The security guards didn’t buy my countess excuses and reasons for why I needed to go up without any credentials or invitation - so rushed back to my apartment and sent Angelica a long DM, which probably was never seen or just ignored. I ended up working as an assistant editor at @vision_magazine_china , going to set was like magic to me. I was also able to see my two cultures merge, models and artists from the U.S. working with the local Chinese team. Photography became a cultural glue that was able to create beautiful pieces of art. A couple years later, I sent dozens of DM’s to different editors in China, one of whom introduced me to @alvinyu613 . I remember nervously sitting in a Shanghai cafe with my portfolio of test shoots, hoping to get Alvin’s stamp of approval. I left the meeting with Alvin’s constructive critique, but more importantly, a new friend. Over the next couple years, we formed a special friendship - I’ve always looked up to Alvin, a creative pioneer. When he reached out to me to shoot the fashion story for @voguechina , @vogueplus , I was honored & to shoot this story with asian talent + asian key artists is a full circle moment.
