One year ago. One year ago life looked a whole lot different. Stagnant. Same routine in most areas of life. Knowing I was capable of something more, but not sure what to do or where to start. But then a feeling in my heart (and the competitive mindset I can’t seem to turn off) told me to go out and do something I didn’t think I could do. OH, HEY RUNNING.👀 One year into this wild running journey and I can’t help but see how He is always working for our good - even when we don’t always see it or understand it. God truly said “First, I will have you start to enjoy this. But then I will give you people to help you love it.” I always hated it. Never thought I could be capable. And now suddenly it’s changed my life. Or has it changed for the better through the people running has given me?! As @kansasrunclub likes to say, “It’s always about community. Running is just how we do it.” I’m a firm believer in “you are who you surround yourself with” and I can’t help but be so overjoyed and grateful to be surrounded by people who believe in me more than I believe in myself, hold me accountable in all facets of life, and be the guard rails we shouldn’t be afraid to sometimes need. Here are some thoughts on the things running has taught me in the last year that can also relate to other areas of life: • It’s not me. It’s we. • Hard things lead to good things. • It’s not “Who/what are you running from?” It’s “What’re you fighting for?” • Our bodies are capable of so much more than we could ever imagine. • Starting is the hardest part. • I am a stronger, more determined person. • It’s you vs. you. Every time you lace up your shoes, you have no idea just how much you have to gain. • You never lose. You win or learn. Needless to say, it’s fun to see how far we’ve come, but so encouraging to see where we can go.😈❤️‍🔥 Boy, do I have so many more thoughts. For now, I’ll just leave it at - Thank you, Jesus.
