We miss these sunshine sweethearts. A cross between a lemon and a mandarin orange, our Meyer lemons burst of lemon love without the acidic bite. Brought from Beijing by the Indiana Jones of the citrus world in 1908, Frank Meyer, these floral delights are commonly grown in China as ornamental trees. They grew in popularity as chef Alice Waters at Chez Panisse rediscovered them during the rise of California Cuisine starting in the 1970’s. At Marmalade Grove, we have 143 of these wonderful trees alongside our Pixie tangerines. They’re one of the more popular hangouts for our bee population and when they bloom the air becomes intoxicatingly sweet. As our fresh fruit season winds down, we start dreaming of our upcoming harvests and the sensual feast they’ll bring. Is it December yet? 🍋🌞 Keep an eye out for our new Meyer lemon and honey marmalades being released in a week or two.
