Hi my name is Miles i’m here with Tony and we’d like to tell you about the making of my song Window Dressing, for those who are interested in that sorta thing. The song came out a few weeks ago today, I appreciate everyone who has given it a spin! give it a spin today or send it to someone who’d like it :-) More music is on the way and i don’t want u to fall behind! Window Dressing has lasted through five years, three studio eras, and a couple different versions, which is why im especially happy it has finally made it to your ears. When we listen to music we are hearing so much more than the song itself. When you listen to Window Dressing, you’re hearing a song that was started in 2017 with a three note melody placed over different chords. I took a voice memo then, sitting at the piano (slide 2). Then it came time to record it, which means asking the big question, “how am I going to communicate this idea?” I wrote it on piano, sure, but should it be played on piano? What’s the tempo, what’s the aesthetic, what’s the world? with Window Dressing i actually came pretty close on the first try. instead of playing it on piano i used the Yamaha CS01 that @butlerwills lent me. I used the Tempest for the drums. The result was a very “digital” feeling song at a peppy tempo (slide 3). CONTINUED IN COMMENTZ
