Thank you, @mellonfdn, for your generous investment in the innovative collaboration between artists and scholars as we engage with, amplify and create from the Black archive.
This year, we were honored to launch the Mellon Archives Innovation Program with our four inaugural fellows who are spending time with and creating new work inspired by our objects and collections: singer and songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae, vocalist Yaw Agyeman, cornetist Ben Lamar Gay and scholar and professor Dr. Honey Crawford. This multifaceted initiative supports the creation of new research, scholarship, and artistic production through engagement with our archival collections at the Stony Island Arts Bank.
On Sunday, December 4, we had the pleasure of welcoming friends and neighbors to the Stony Island Arts Bank to intimately discover and engage with the research that our four inaugural Mellon Archives Innovations Fellows are conducting in our archives and collections.
We look forward to our 2023 programs, including object lessons, readings and discussions around curated objects in our archives.
