BA Degree Double Majoring In History and Peace &Justice Studies with a minor in Environmental Art and Social Practices. 🎓☀️ Four years ago I graduated my dream high school feeling so many things, unsure of what I was really capable of. I had no clue what was out there but I knew there had to be more than this. I knew all I could do was try and show up for myself in this new space, in this new chapter even if I wasn’t exactly ready for what was next. I went to a college that at the time wasn’t my primary choice but gave me a scholarship and with a undecided major- the train continued forward. Today looking back, I have learned more than I ever could dream of. My world and my heart has expanded. I rooted myself in exploration and knowledge like never before. I realized that the light I thought I had to find, has always been within. That the words we tell ourselves matter as much as the people we surround ourselves with. My hs quote was from The Chicks “I will always find my way somehow, taking the long way around”. They were right, You do always find your way because if you continue to show up for yourself, sit with and through the discomfort- the truth will not be withheld from you. I look at my degree and I feel centered in my passions, in my principles, in my morals - in this ever-growing me. Nothing about this experience was ordinary but that’s what makes it extraordinary. A year on zoom, I finished my whole second degree in my senior year, I went abroad but was sent home due to a pandemic, went on community service trip with OMA to Bulbancha, found amazing mentors and educators. I feel so ready that’s it’s scary even if I know it’s going to be hard to keep my feet on the ground. But I can see tomorrow with me in it, and I feel excited about who I’ve become, and for that I tell younger maya we did it!
