When you know, you know. Rambling post to follow, but likely worth the share. 💓 • People have always asked how @corbinbrands and I have made our relationship work in regards to being a professional athlete (spoiler alert: it’s been a very selfish endeavor). The answer is easy: we are two very independent people that have firmly believed in following your own passions and being supportive of the other. For 17 years, mine has been triathlon. Chris will forever be in love with spending time outdoors and chasing fish. At the end of the day or the week or month, we spend quality time together when it counts. It’s been a perfect balance that I’m forever thankful for. • Early on in my career, and even all the way up until 2020 and COVID - Chris would leave to go fish for a few days and I’d not even blink an eye. Alone time to train my brains out, eat, recover, wake up and do it all over again. I never wondered what I was missing out on. • A shift has occurred in recent years. I’ve been left home to train and in the back of my mind started wondering: what are Chris and Chimmy doing right now? What am I missing out on? What if my love for adventure and being outdoors is making me curious about what else there could be for me? What if spending time on the river or in the mountains with the people I love sounds more fun than spending time at home training? • There’s many reasons for closing this chapter of being a professional triathlete, but this is just one. • Thank you, Chris, for your love, patience, kindness, and never-ending support. I’m looking forward to leading the charge on more adventures and spending quality time with you + Chimmy. It’s time ❤️.
