Two posts in two days! Unheard of from me but yesterday’s post was quite a heated one so I thought I’d write something a bit calmer! Today is the first day of meteorological autumn - it has been feeling quite autumnal for a little while now with much cooler mornings and evenings, less light and the air smells different. And then there are the spiders. Good lord, what are they eating! I’m not a big fan of spiders, in fact I get more terrified of them each year so I’ll be glad when they decide to stop tearing around the house like race horses! I do love all the colours of autumn though so that will bring much joy. After my epic rant yesterday, I thought I’d share a suitably autumnal handmade crown - a rather special crown that I have made from offcuts of recycled brass sheet and wire. Every leaf is hand cut and forged by me and soldered together. I’ve added some gorgeous glass pearls and some little clusters of ethically sourced semi-precious garnets in a beautiful shade of deep red. The silks are peace silks and dyed with plants. No chemicals, no plastic, no animal products and no waste. There are quite a lot of us in the wedding industry who are trying to make a difference and make beautiful future heirlooms using things that are not nasty to to planet. Unlike the nonsense written in the Guardian. I’ll let it lie now!
