To all of you who have received a Purple Heart: we appreciate you and the sacrifice you've given in the name of our country and the people in it. To everyone else: take a second to appreciate those very real, physical sacrifices, and then go out and enjoy the things that they bought. For those wondering, the first image is PVT Robert Scullion holding his Purple Heart in January, 1944, just after the battle of Anzio in WWII. Over 7,000 men were killed there, and over 36,000 were wounded or missing.
