*GRNMA PRESENTS HEALTH FUND SUPPORT CHEQUE OF GHC15,000.00 TO A MEMBER, IN THE WA METROPOLITAN OF THE UPPER WEST REGION* The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives' Association (GRNMA) continues to offer financial support to members in critical health need. On October 14, 2025, the Upper West Regional Executives, in collaboration with the Wa Metro Executives, presented a cheque worth *FIFTEEN THOUSAND GHANA CEDIS (GHC15,000)* to a member of the association in need of health support in the Wa Metropolis. The cheque was presented at the Wa Municipal Hospital’s ANC hall by the Hospital Administrator, Mr. Samson Abu, along with DCMO Mama Felecia Frina, the Maternity Unit Head, and the GRNMA Metropolitan Chairman, Mr. Joseph N. Borgkur, on behalf of the President, Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo. Mr. Samson Abu, the Wa Municipal Hospital’s Administrator, extended his gratitude to the association for consistently and promptly supporting its members in need. He stated that he has witnessed at least four (4) members of the association receive substantial sums of money for health support within the Wa Metropolitan Hospital and encouraged all nurses and midwives to join the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association for improved welfare. The beneficiary, *Madam Amata Abdul Wahab*, received a cheque of *FIFTEEN THOUSAND GHANA CEDIS (GHC 15,000.00).* Madam Amata Abdul Wahab works at the Wa Municipal Hospital, in the ANC unit. The presentation was made in the Wa Municipal Hospital in the presence of the GRNMA - Upper West Regional PRO, Mr. Abdul Fatawu, the GRNMA-Metro Chairman, Mr. Joseph Borgkur N., the GRNMA-Wa Metro Secretary, Mr. Sharif Yahuza, the GRNMA-Wa Metro PRO, Mr. Imoro Mumuni, as well as other members of the Union. Mr. Joseph Borgkur N., the Metro Chairman (GRNMA), used the opportunity to remind the employer's representatives of their responsibility in times of employee ill health, as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement signed between the association and the employer. He stressed the need *to screen all nurses and midwives at least once a year and to cover one hundred percent (100%) of treatments for conditions outside the remit of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS),* emphasizing that the health of staff is paramount and a common interest. Mr. Sharif Yahuza, the Metro Secretary, also added that members should first seek health support from their facility through a formal letter from their Nurse Manager, with a copy of that letter sent to the GRNMA Wa Metro Secretariat. The beneficiary extended her gratitude to the President, Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, the Upper West Regional Executives, and the Wa Metropolitan Executives for the financial support, emphasizing the significant relief the support provides in seeking health treatment.
