Last night, @downtofilm and I locked ourselves away in a Vancouver WeWork and did our best to capitalize on limitless caffeine and the momentum of a weekend well spent. Digging through the archives of a whirlwind year, I stumbled back across this moment from an impulse trip to Peru, a sentimental snapshot stashed away in software shelving, gathering digital dust. But here’s the thing, what I’ve come to enjoy most about life behind the lens is the innate ability for a photo transport you back to that moment. File folders function as little photographic portals, treasure troves of time travel tucked away in messy terabytes. So, as we passed the hours editing, I found myself slowly slipping back in time, reliving the heavy lidded eyes that accompanied heavier feet as we raced the dawn to 17000 feet, heart rate increasing in the present as if adjusting to the altitude of the past. Then again maybe it’s just the coffee. Elevation comes in many forms.
