👯‍♂️ SIAMESE TWINS: Greer Lankton 1981 💋 * * * Nearly 4 feet in size and partially jointed with human hair. Their makeup is inspired by Pater Sato. The skill and delicate craftsmanship was incredible in person and slightly lost in a photo. They were shown and sold at Greer’s first solo show at Civilian Warfare NYC 1983. Greer loved the idea of being a conjoined twin and made a shirt for her and I to wear that made us look as if we were. She loved the idea of never being alone. Unfortunately for her there was no trans community for support at that time and was looked upon as a freak as were drag queens and treated as lesser then especially in the gay community. She fought for the right to be herself and her battle opened the doors of today. * * * Greer was the first trans artist to show at the Whitney Biennial and Venice Biennial in 1996 then in 2017 she became the first trans artist to show their work at the National gallery DC, LACMA, the High museum, the Met Breuer etc....and Greer continues kicking in doors today. She was more then an artist she was a revolution. She was her greatest work of art. Along with Teri Toye they lived without fear neither hid the fact of who they were/are. Teri being the first openly trans model to walk the catwalk internationally. A lot of gratitude is owed to these two revolutionary icons.
