I was never a runner! I am asthmatic and couldn’t bear to run more than a minute without feeling like I couldn’t breathe or was going to pass out! Then the worst happened, cancer hit one of the closest people to me very hard! I saw him beat cancer the first time and then fight till the very end, the second time. And he really wouldn’t give up, he fought to the very end for us, even though he knew, we all knew really, he would be more comfortable if he let go and stopped fighting for us. I’m sure a lot of people reading can relate, and it’s truly awful, there’s barely a person alive today who hasn’t been affected by cancer in one way or another! And that’s when I decided to run the London Marathon, to help people fight against cancer. I was due to run the London Marathon in April 2020 which didn’t go ahead because COVID-19 hit the world! I've been on some sort of marathon training programme for over 3.5 years and let me tell you the training is horrible! Something always got in the way; COVID restrictions, catching COVID myself twice, then a couple of weeks ago I sprained my rib and was advised not to run, so I am massively behind in the training! Nevertheless, here I am now back in training for the London Marathon which will take place in October, and I don’t care what happens to me, if I have to crawl across the finish line, I will do it in honour of my Granddad and to raise money for Worldwide Cancer Research! But considering I’ve been in training for this race for so long, I’ve decided to increase my target to raise £5,000! I have £1,030 to go! So please take the time to donate something small, it doesn't have to be a lot if we all put in together and fight together.
