📕Book Review📕 The Family Game by @catsteadman Swipe for blurb ➡️ Published by @simonschusteruk Coming 29th Sept ‘Damaged people are dangerous. They know they can survive’ Woah!!! I was not expecting any of what I just read. I really enjoyed Catherine’s last book ‘The Disappearing Act’ but this is even better. I love when a story starts at the end with the juicy bits to come. I felt like I was on a cat and mouse chase (well Tiger and Lion chase would be more fitting for this one) With a strong protagonist Harriet Reed a successful author and her new fiancée Edward Holbeck who is from a very powerful and wealthy family there are a lot of secrets, deception and tension buried beneath the characters facades waiting to explode. Unscrupulous and cruel in-laws in this story make for a fascinating but extremely creepy read at times with their behaviour and games. There is one particular game that is played (I won’t say what it is) but good god, I was nearly jumping out my skin as it is a really eerie couple of chapters. The setting and vivid descriptions really takes hold in your head! I loved the suspense in this which simmers along nicely until it completely boils over towards the end. Brilliant! This would make such a great film or TV series.
