A common issue I run into with clients is that their space is too small to fit everything they want to cram into it. A much rarer situation is a room that’s so big we can’t figure out what to do with it. Such was the case of the Giant Weird Room at Londo Lodge. Based on the original architectural drawings, this room was supposed to be even bigger (the wall that separates the gym was added post-construction). My master plan in here is to add another bedroom and bathroom because the space is too big to be a pass thru and putting beds in there felt like a bummer for whomever had to sleep there with people wandering through their sleeping space all night long. One tactic when tackling a too-big room is to create different zones with different purposes. I decided to install this wonderful (outdoor) glamping tent from @vevorofficial to help break up the space and create different areas that were more usable. Adding the tent allowed me to create a more orderly hallway space. On the other side of the tent, I created a reading nook that doubles as a semi-private sleeping space (the @bludot sofa is a sleeper). Finally, I made a dressing area with a mirror so the guests sleeping in here would have a space to get ready (I’m planning on buying a decorative divider screen to complete this function). LET THIS BE A LESSON TO ALL OF US THAT IF A SPACE IS TOO BIG YOU CAN JUST PLOP A TENT IN IT AND ENJOY MULTIPLE ROOMS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE (AWKWARDLY LARGE ROOM). Anyway, I’m Gay! Goodbye!
