EXPLAINING THE ART "MODERN ARMOR PORTRAIT" SERIES PART 3 The promise of what New York City has been with me since I was in infancy. I was told that when I would cry as a baby, I was plonked right in front of the tv and I would become instantly silent. It's for this reason I love film and film directing, but that's a story for another day. New York was ingrained in me from a young age. It's through children's books, animation, Christmas movies, and romantic movies to action. I knew the most famous buildings in New York before I even knew any from the country I was born in. Moving to New York was a dream, there was no culture shock in my move, I instantly got into the grove and felt that I was home. Having lived here much like a lot of creatives, we forget the dream it represented for us as we go through life monotonously. We forget to look up and around us in wonder. I have certainly found myself in the past shooting in the studio consecutively when there is beauty just outside the other side of the wall. It took me time to get back to that sense of wonder, but I can happily say that I see it now, all of it! It's for this reason for the #MODERNARMOR portrait project I chose to use the city as my backdrop to inspire, ignite, and remind me, and others of the promise of this enchanting city.
