I had mixed feelings about turning 30. As women, we tend to put a lot of weight behind that number, and part of me fell into that trap. I had anxiety about being alone, where I was in my career, my mental tenacity. I was worried I should be more advanced, more clear, more “adult”. The other part of me was indifferent. I’ve never really been big on birthdays and didn’t want 30 to feel any different. Turns out, i feel the exact same as I did before. Better. I’ve learned to not let the inevitable bother me and understand that getting older is a privilege. 30 is a privilege. Making it out of my 20’s with only 2 misdemeanors and 0 kids is a privilege. Excited for this new decade, embracing getting older, and will circle back at 40.
