The U.S. has the highest maternal mortality rate out of all high-income countries, and the rate is rising. More than 80% of these maternal deaths are preventable. Every death is heartbreaking, every preventable death is unacceptable. It’s time to stop accepting the unacceptable and demand action. When you compare maternal health in the U.S. to any other high-income country, the differences are stark: the maternal mortality rate is higher, access to high-quality maternity care is lower, and the U.S. is the lone country that does not guarantee any paid family leave after childbirth. HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN #BUMPDAY 1️⃣Share your story — or show your support. If you’ve struggled to find the respectful, responsive, high-quality maternity care that every mom deserves, post about it on any social platform. You could also share a bump photo — yours, or someone you love — with this simple message: Every mom, everywhere deserves a safe pregnancy. Tag your post with #BumpDay and @whattoexpect and @whattoexpectproject. We will be reposting these stories on #BumpDay. 2️⃣Demand action. Contact your congressional representatives and urge them to pass the Momnibus Act in honor of #BumpDay. Visit the link in our bio to find your local representative and email them. Spread the word. Share the love. Save a life.💜
