Stefan and David ‘dated’ briefly before Stefan started seeing John Dugdale, who he moved in with at his apartment on Cleveland Pl. Shortly afterwards he got sick and was soon too weak to do the 5 flights of stairs, so they moved and John gave his wonderful 19th century tricked out apartment to me , where I lived until I spawned and outgrew it. John soon became ill himself, losing his eyesight, and after he and Stefan broke up, Stefan moved into Bailey House on Christopher and the Westside Hwy, a refuge for homeless people with aids. I visited him often, especially because I delivered meals for God’s Love We Deliver ,which was then just a small operation where food would be dropped off at local centers, like churches or community centers and volunteers would pick up 7 or 8 meals and deliver them, and often the visit was as important as the food, but I frequently found myself at Bailey House so usually stopped in to say hi to Stefan. My memory is terrible so I don’t remember when or how he died, but he did get a kick out of this picture of him that was in some magazine and I saved it.
