i fear to ask but how much did y’all pay for eras tickets 🫣 #TSTheErasTourOnTikTok #ErasTourTaylorSwift #TaylorTok #swiftie descriptive transcript: me, a white woman with green eyes and red hair holding a tiny microphone as i say, “Eras Tour tickets did not cost thousands of dollars. I've received literally hundreds of comments asking how I purchased tickets for anywhere from one to five hundred dollars and I feel like we've lost the plot a little bit on what the actual ticket prices were. just for context, every dollar amount mentioned in this video is going to be in USD, because those are the prices that were listed in the videos that people were commenting on, of mine. I know in some currencies, like Australian Dollars, the tickets did go over $1,000 [image on screen shows the Australian “it’s been a long time coming” package that costs AU$1,249.90 and includes, “One Unforgettable A Reserve Floor Ticket*, Special Set of Four (4) Taylor Swift Prints, Exclusive Taylor Swift VIP Merchandise, Commemorative Taylor Swift...”. however, when converted, they are the same cost [image on screen shows the google conversion for AU$1,249.90 to $813.43 USD. so from the source, which is often Ticketmaster, Eras Tour ticket prices ranged from $49 to $899 with standard tickets being capped at $449. [an image on screen shows an article snippet that reads, “Unusually in the modern era of variably priced ‘platinum tickets’ where fans get little information about set ticket prices, Swift has announced the cost of her tickets in advance. They run from $49 up to $449., with VIP packages will start at $199 up to $899 on a first come, first served basis.”] I think it's important to remember that for every show if the capacity is 70,000, then there were about 70,000 tickets that were sold at that price. obviously there are tickets that were held back by the venue, or may have been given through other avenues, but unless free, those tickets likely also fell in this price range. there have been people in my comment sections who have been arguing over tickets for their show being sold for $2,000 or more. and I think the reason for that is because we have normalized resale prices so much for this tour. obviously resale is a very common way to get tickets, but I think it's also important to remember that there are still people who are selling tickets for face value. it's also important to remember that while scalpers suck, and they have swarmed to the Eras Tour, most people who purchased tickets during those sales did not do so with the intention of reselling them for thousands of dollars. which also means that if you see someone posting photos or videos from the Eras Tour, they most likely did not pay literal rent prices to be there. and you might be asking, why are we even talking about this? because I think it's really important for us to know what the face value cost of something is before we go to buy it from a reseller. because of the number of people who genuinely believe that these tickets started at $2,000, they might be more willing to pay a random scalper on Stubhub two, three, four, or more thousands of dollars. and while some of you may have that money just lying around, and that's working for you, I think most of us don't. I also think that this mindset and the way that people are talking about these tickets have made a lot of fans give up on trying to find tickets. because they think to themselves, I don't have $3,000 to just drop on a random seat. obviously getting tickets right now for the Eras Tour is not as easy as just hopping on Ticketmaster and picking out a seat. but if you are still looking for tickets, do not let anyone convince you that we started at a base price of over $1,000, because we just didn't.”
